Javier F. Gutierrez is a partner at Stuart Kane LLP, and practices in the Real Estate group.
Mr. Gutierrez helps clients acquire, finance, construct, lease, and dispose of real estate and other corporate assets. His diverse practice includes all aspects of commercial real estate transactions, including the drafting and negotiation of commercial leases, joint venture agreements, purchase and sale agreements, CC&Rs and reciprocal easement agreements, site development agreements and financing documents.
Mr. Gutierrez has considerable experience representing Fortune 500 companies, as well as medium and small sized companies, in a wide range of traditional and non-traditional real estate and corporate transactions.
Since January 2013, Mr. Gutierrez has been serving on the Board of Directors for American Family Housing and has served as Chair of AFH’s Real Estate Acquisitions Committee. In his role as Chair, he has been responsible for guidance on all real estate assets for AFH and currently assists AFH in growing the number of immediately available beds for the homeless.
Mr. Gutierrez is a member of the Urban Land Institute and is involved in a variety of other real estate industry organizations, including the International Council of Shopping Centers and the Building Industry Association of Orange County.
In 2016, Urban Land Magazine recognized Gutierrez with its “Top 40 Under 40 Award” for his pro-bono work on the development of AFH’s Potter’s Lane Project, a modified shipping container project that currently provides housing for homeless veterans. In 2013, the Urban Land Institute (ULI) recognized Mr. Gutierrez with the Emergent Leadership Award for Professional Services. In 2012, Gutierrez chaired a Pro Bono Technical Assistance Panel for ULI, a year-long endeavor which culminated in a 68-page report on homeless shelter planning and development for the Orange County Rescue Mission.
Mr. Gutierrez has been selected as to the 2015, 2016 and 2017 Southern California “Rising Stars” list by Super Lawyers magazine. Mr. Gutierrez is also a member of the State Bar of California, Orange County Bar Association, Orange County Hispanic Bar Association, Langston Bar Association and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
Prior to beginning his legal studies, Mr. Gutierrez completed the Senator Richard G. Polanco Fellowship in Sacramento with the California Latino Caucus Institute of Public Policy. As part of the fellowship, he studied public policy at California State University of Sacramento while working for both the California Attorney General’s Office and California State Assembly.
